Religious brotherhood in charge: Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo de la Salud, Nuestra Señora de la Amargura y San Juan Evangelista.
During this procession, two floats are carried along the streets. The first one bears of a group of sculptures on top, from which the Cristo de la Salud (Our Father of Health) figure of Christ stands out. These religious images represent a dead and crucified Christ at the feet of Nuestra Señora de la Amargura (Our Lady of Sadness). Next to the latter, we find the sculpture that represents John the Evangelist. Regarding their sculptors, Manuel Escamilla, an expert in religious wooden images from Estepa, carved the sculpture of Christ in 1952. Even though we do not know for sure who carved the one of the Virgin, it is very similar to La Virgen de la Presentación (Our Lady of the Appearance) sculpture from the Sevillian religious brotherhood “El Calvario”, carved by Juan de Astorga.
